An Apple A Day, Keeps Ol’ Bill Away!
Yes, thats right. Another switched. It’s not an uncommon thing to hear nowadays. It tends to make you think why, maybe Apple is actually onto something and Microsoft is missing the big picture?
I got my Apple MacBook around a week ago and to be honest I could not be happier. You’ve probably heard this from other Mac users or from Apple’s promotions but everything on a Mac, just works. It is amazing, and this is the most powerful hook to any previous windows user. There is no worrying about if your programs will make it past the firewall, or if you need to open some ports to allow incoming and outgoing connections. Everything simultaneously works and this, in-turn, is what makes everyone stay. Once you switch to Mac you can’t go back!
I have used Mac’s every now and again, but have never really invested time in them till now. Since buying the Mac in this last week I have been astounded with every bit of more time I spend on my Mac. I found out the first day I got it to install programs its a simple “drag and drop” and exactly the same for uninstall. This is bliss to every Windows user’s ears who have to endure a long and tedious process of an instill wizard which hogs memory and can take quite some time.
I got one of the older model MacBook’s (the 2.16GHz) because it was a lot cheaper, the upgrade wasn’t that much, and I’d have to scratch my head for another 2 months of my new mac. Seeing as it was that model it had Tiger preloaded on it and all I had to do was slip in the Leopard disk and walk away for an hour. It was that simple. No mucking around with partitioning or worrying about how this new upgrade will affect my system; like many current Vista users did (or those who have downgraded back to XP).
OSX 10.5 is both visually appealing and powerful. It has every tool that you could need plus more. It comes with iLife ’08 preloaded for the creative and film people out there as well as iWork ’08 and Microsoft Office Mac:2004 trials. As soon as I got my Mac working I downloaded the basics; Firefox, Thunderbird and Windows Live Messenger. Not that Safari, Mail and iChat have anything wrong with them. I am just used to those other applications and i swore by them on windows.
I can not recommend enough about how great Mac and Apple are. Microsoft and Windows have been blown out of the water well and truly. With Mac’s ease of use, visually appealing interface and powerful applications Vista is no competition compared to OSX 10.5 Leopard. You will find more and more people switching over to Macintosh as the years go by. Apple is onto something, a great thing, Microsoft has just totally missed the plot and fell in the trash can.
Stay tuned, I will be posting some awesome free Mac applications in my next article and where to find them.
Cheers, Matt.
